Carew 500

In the Spring of 1507, for 5 days, Carew Castle in Pembrokeshire played host to knights and their retinues from all over Wales. Over 1000 people were present to honour Sir Rhys Ap Thomas and to celebrate his admission to the Order Of The Garter

The celebrations included hunting, feasting, music and dancing. The highlight of the celebrations was the grand jousting tournament between the Knights of Griffith ap Rhys and the Knights of Sir William Herbert

This event successfully receates the spectable in all its spleadour. Once again, the field opposite the castle was populated with knights and their squires,minstrels, heralds and bowmen. The air was full of medieval song and ladies and gentlemen in all their finery performed courtly dances
